Course objectives

  • Participants get to know the latest literature in Sustainable Finance.
  • Participants gain hands-on experience of performing empirical analysis on real data.
  • Participants are instructed to think about a research question within their area of their specific niche in Sustainable Finance.
  • Participants are able to gather useful feedback in their development of research ideas.

 

Structure & Content

The course is a mixture of lectures, hands-on empirical analysis, and active discussions.

 It …

 

  • equips participants with information on the latest divergences of ESG score providers and measurement challenges.
  • provides an overview of the latest research in Sustainable Finance including but not limited to trends, investor preferences and risk and performance measures.
  • offers an active discussion to identify research gaps and develop individual research projects.
  • gives access to an interdisciplinary workshop where international guest speakers present their latest research projects.

 

Application Procedure

Goal and target audience:

Doctoral students and postdocs in business/management with particular interest in Sustainable Finance including ESG investing, green finance, and impact investing

Application process

Doctoral students and postdocs apply using the registration form below.

Registration is open until September 15, 2023.

The course is limited to 12 participants (first come, first served).

Assessment

Form of assessment: active participation in both the pre-workshop day and the workshop days, written research proposal (3-5 pages), online presentation (20 minutes).

Participation in all sessions is mandatory. Participation requires thorough preparation.

Pre-Workshop on Wednesday, November 15, 2023:
09:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.: Opening and administration
10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.:  Literature review part 1
11.30 a.m. - 01:00 p.m.:  Literature review part 2
01:30 p.m. - 04:30 p.m.: Empirical analysis of prominent issues in sustainable finance
04:30 p.m. - 06:00 p.m.: Presentation of results and possible discussion on future research directions

 

Workshop on Thursday, November 16, 2023:
09:00 a.m. - 05:30 p.m.: Scientific presentations of international guest speakers + panel discussion
07:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.: Conference dinner


Workshop on Friday, November 17, 2023:
09:00 a.m. - 05:30 p.m.: Scientific presentations of of international guest speakers
07:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.: Dinner in a restaurant

The hotel is within walking distance from the train station and the venue.
